Graduated... now what?

Now that I'm finally done with school, I now move on to another chapter in my life. But what am I supposed to do now? Even though I just started working at State Farm, working as an insurance agent isn't my ideal job. I always have to remind myself that I just need to stick with this job for one year just so I can apply for my permanent residence. Even though it can be a tough commission based job, I have to keep persevering... Many times I ask myself why I don't feel satisfied with this job. Is it because I can't make much money? Is it because I don't feel passionate about what I'm doing? Is it because I'm confused about what I want in terms of a career? I wonder if other people (new grads especially) have felt the same way as I do...

  1. My friend you just need to put yourself into hibernation for a year. Trick your brain into thinking this is the best job in the world for one year and you'll be set. I do it all the time! (Alcohol and good "company" usually helps) Find something you like about the job and do more of that. I'll see you in 11 months!

  2. That's why I skipped the bigger chunks of schooling pretty much and joined the workforce immediately. Not just any job. The jobs I wanted to do. Can't really say it always worked out, but I can definitely say that I'm on the right track.

What did you study? What can you do with what you studied? What other jobs are compatible with your acquired knowledge... etc etc

Just relax, perhaps you need to focus more on the positives and i dunno, if you have movey saved up, go travel and all. U will be in Canada for a long time to get through with the seasons especially Winter times + shoveling the snow. That's why i prefer living in an apartment or a condo when it comes to investment!

  6. Definitely graduated in June myself and feeling the exact same way! I was working on an entrepreneurial project over the summer, then when I ran out of money I used my connections to land me a job to work in an area that will eventually benefit me and my business! If your passion is internet and blogging and marketing, keep looking for something and learn the industry you want to be in! Mind you, the whole permanent residence thing is a sticky situation so definitely stick it out until you get that :) Cheers
